Why do Rimbalzo sell Washable Nappies?
Since we opened a Day Nursery, we have always worked to promote washable nappies in order to reduce the amount of waste generated by disposable nappies. For more than a year, we have been using only washable nappies in our nursery. We have tried out most of the washable nappies on the market and now offer the best for sale to you.

What is the difference between the different types of nappies you sell?
We offer three different types of washable nappies. They each have their own advantages, but all are cheaper and more environmentally friendly than disposables.

Bambino Mio is a two-piece prefold nappy. There is a nappy cover shown at the bottom of the picture and a prefold cotton nappy. At the top is a bio-degradeable nappy liner.

The nappy cover has velcro style fasteners which allows adjustment to suit the shape of your baby. The edges have soft binding on the waist and leg cuffs. The cuffs and waist are elasticated.

When you change your baby, simply remove the liner and use it to flush any solids straight down the toilet. Replace the cover if it needs washing and insert a fresh nappy into the cover.

Advantages: Bambino Mio is the most economical of the nappies we sell. It is the easiest of our nappies to wash and dry.

Our second type of nappy is the Onelife Birth to Potty Nappy. OneLife is similar to the well-known Mother-Ease nappy, but we find it to be of better quality. It's also supplied by a British company, Mother-Ease is Canadian.

Onelife is a beautifully soft, cotton shaped nappy designed to fit your baby from birth to potty. This one size nappy has poppers for adjusting the size as your baby grows. Made from 80% unbleached cotton, 20% polyester for stretch, it has soft binding around the legs and waistband and an attachable booster to ensure total comfort and maximum performance for your baby. A truly luxurious nappy. Use with a Onelife nappy cover.

Advantages: With Onelife nappies, you don't need to buy as many nappies as they're good from birth to potty.

How do I get started?
As long as your baby is not yet potty trained, it's not too late to try washable nappies! You can buy a trial pack, a nappy set, or a complete birth to potty pack.

Trial packs are available pre-packaged from Bambino Mio containing one nappy cover, one nappy and a biodegradeable liner. They are available in white or print in sizes from Newborn to Large. Bambino Mio trial packs are pre-washed ready to use.

How many nappies will I need?
Simply put, the more nappies you buy, the less often you will have to wash them. Bambino Mio give you 24 size one nappies and 24 size two nappies in its Birth to Potty Pack which does give you several days before you run out.

You will probably find that younger babies need more nappies because they need changing more often. Ideally, we would recommend 20 nappies of each size, but you might manage with a few less.

How many covers will I need?
Again, this depends to some extent on your baby, but 3 of each size will probably be enough.

What are birth to potty packs?
Birth to Potty Packs are intended to give you enough nappies and wraps to take you from the birth of your baby until they reach potty training. We recommend you consider buying additional nappies, especially of the smaller sizes, to save you washing them as often.

Why should I use liners?
Using liners makes it easier to dispose of the solid waste in your nappy. When you change your baby, you can discard the waste down the toilet. This leaves your nappy cleaner and easier to wash. Liners also help to keep your baby's bottom dry.

What type of liners should I buy?
We sell disposable bio-degradeable liners from Bambino Mio and Onelife.

Either will work well, Bambino Mio liners come in packs of 200, Onelife liners in packs of 100.

How do I wash and dry my nappies?
Your washable nappies should be washed with a non-biological washing powder. We recommend MioCare Washing Powder from Bambino Mio as it's kind to baby's delicate skin and environmentally friendly. MioCare is suitable for all the nappy brands we sell. MioFresh sanitiser is very popular, it's a pre-wash soaker and keeps nappy smells down. It's available in 500g or 1kg packs. Alternatively, Onelife Pure is a new product with added Aloe Vera.

Drying your nappies can be carried out however you prefer. If the weather is good, line-drying is ideal. Otherwise, you can use a tumble dryer or put them on radiators.

We recommend you don't put your nappy covers in the tumble dryer in order to prolong their shape and life.

What accessories will I need?
A complete set of washable nappy accessories will make your life easier.

You will need a good stock of baby wipes, we sell disposable biodegradeable wipes from Bambino Mio.

We recommend Bambino Mio's nappy bucket, along with a pair of laundry bags (shown left) to make it easier to put the soiled nappies into your washing machine.

What can I do when I go on holiday?
When you're on holiday, you might find it too difficult to use washable nappies. On these occasions, we recommend Moltex OKO eco-disposable nappies. They are unbleached and free from toxic residues. We intend to offer them for sale at our website soon.

If you'd like us to let you know when we make these eco-disposable nappies available, please contact us.
